Shenandoah Falls2 Part Zoom Class: Thursday, February 13, 2025 at Noon EST and Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Noon EST
Replay recordings posted with lifetime access in HD Homeland. Let's get ready to jam!! Do you really KNOW Shenandoah Falls? Do you have the Main Melody up to tempo with good swing and accents? Do you have the backup? Do you have that killer rising bass line with perhaps your own touch of improvisation? Great! Ken and ML will be asking you to play it in your next lesson. Do you need a refresher on Shenandoah Falls or want to take it to the next level? Please consider taking ML's two part class on Thursday, Feb 13 and Thursday, Feb 20 at Noon EST. Never had the opportunity to learn Shenandoah Falls? Definitely take this class! Newer players should not feel intimidated, Simon will help ML teach the Main Melody at a pace that will be comfortable for you and you will have access to the videos to rewatch. More advanced players will be given the opportunity to add some improvisation to the B Part. |
A Roof for the RainThe second tune that we have chosen for the Sandbridge Common Repertoire Project Spring 2025 is A Roof for the Rain by Ken Kolodner. This tune works well for players of all levels. This piece is all about “groove”, shifting accents off the primary counts, using anticipations and playing with drive – without pounding!
If this is a tune that you play, are you getting that groove by bringing out the accents and anticipations? Have you incorporated the bass line (how about down an octave) into your Main Melody? Do you have an arrangement up an octave? How is your groove on the backup? Don't know what I'm talking about? Please buy the video lesson. We can't wait to hear us do this tune justice! When everything comes together this tune really grooves, but we need to do more than simply play the notes. One of ML's favorite moments of the tune is letting that unresolved V chord ring at the end. What a sound! Just a reminder, Ken and ML will be asking to hear this tune in your lessons leading up to Sandbridge. |
