This schedule is subject to modification. We like to be very flexible!
Saturday Early arrival is an option for a small additional cost ($60 for one person and $80 with a guest). This is a great day to hang out, enjoy the beach, settle in, meet other participants, get your spot in the workshop room, play tunes etc. At least half of each week arrives on Saturday. We highly recommend coming in Saturday. The check in time for the houses is 4:00 pm on Saturday for "week #1" in both the Spring and Fall. For the other weeks, you may come in at 2:00 p.m. Check with Ken or Laurie to confirm. We usually go out or do carry out for Saturday dinner. We typically set up our instruments in the workshop room after dinner.
Sunday It is about evenly split between Saturday & Sunday arrivals. Arrive anytime to settle in but it is best to get here well before dinner time just to settle in your room and find your spot in the main room. Folks usually jam in the afternoon. 5:00 p.m.: Happy hour and appetizers 6:00 p.m.: Crab/shrimp feast 8:00 p.m.: Brief orientation and introductions; desert 9:00 p.m.: Jam and free time
Monday through Thursday 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.: Session #1 with breaks as needed 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.: Lunch and free time 2:00 - 4:00 or 4:30 p.m.: Session #2 with breaks as needed 4:00 or 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.: Free time; group fiddle lessons 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.: Happy hour with appetizers 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.: Dinner 8:00 - 9:00 p.m.: Optional session based on the groups energy level; this sometimes includes a special topic or a review of a tune or idea presented earlier in the day 9:00 p.m. till whenever - jam or just hang out!
Wednesday Same schedule with a few additions. Lunch time - group photos! 8:00 p.m. Coffeehouse! Voluntary performances by our participants! This is completely voluntary - no pressure. Feel free to team up with other participants or enlist Ken. We may spread the coffeehouse out over 2 nights.
Thursday Same schedule plus: The A-Z jam founded by the late Rosemary Hornak! We will go through the whole alphabet - the tune must start with each letter. X and Z are tough but we have a few work-arounds!
Friday 9:30 - 12:00 Final session 12:00 -3:00 Free time 3:00 -5:30 The "Beautiful Tunes" jam. Be ready to play your favorites. We often play tunes from previous years so practice up! You might want to have a recording device ready. This is a super fun time to chill out. 6:30 Dinner at the house! We usually going to Margie and Ray's - voted the best seafood dive in Virginia!! The workshop does not pay for this dinner.
Saturday Departure. Spring Week and Week #3 folks need to be out by 10:00 a.m. Week #1 and week #2 folks have the option of staying over an extra night if we have room.
