AIRPORT PICKUP: For those flying, the closest airport is Norfolk (ORF). Before booking travel, please consult with Ken. I will try to arrange airport pickup by one of our workshop attendees or me! For those flying in, linens will be provided. I can also provide instruments, plus stands. Try to arrive on Saturday anytime - or Sunday by 3:00 p.m.
ADDRESSES: Houses may vary depending on availability Our houses are the 12-bedroom ocean front house called The Ocean Front Villa at 3556 Sandfiddler Rd Sandbridge, VA 23456 See http://www.sandbridge.com/rental/house.html?ID=224 On the North side of Ocean Front Villa is the 6-bedroom Beachy Keen. Beachy Keen has four queens and two twin rooms (both ocean front). 3552 Sandfiddler Road, Sandbridge, VA 23456 A short walk to the south of these houses is the 9-bedroom, 7 master suite ocean front house with lots of private bathrooms Queen O'Sea 3628 Sandfiddler Road, VA 23456 All houses are equipped with wireless internet, laundry facilities, TVs etc... The workshop and dinners take place in The Ocean Front Villa. WIRELESS: The houses are equipped with wireless. MY CELL NUMBER: 410-746-8387 – it is always on OCEAN WATER TEMPERATURE: Typically, we should see low-mid 70’s and be fine for swimming. THE HOT TUB will be OPEN!! FORECAST: Typical is mid-upper 70’s and possibly low 80’s during the day and 60ish in the evening. Dolphins guaranteed!! LAUNDRY FACILITIES: All houses are fully equipped with laundry facilities. We will have detergent. WHAT TO BRING. Most important, besides your instruments, are beach towels. All rooms will have sheets and bath towels. Some other items to bring are beach towels, binoculars if you like to look at flying things and dolphins, a camera (of course, we have our resident photographer, Laurie). The houses probably have some beach chairs but I can’t say for sure. AVAILABLE INSTRUMENTS: For those flying in, I can provide a Rick Thum Professional, 4-5 Dusty Strings D45, 1 Songbird, 1 Overture (16/15), 1 Masterworks Ultralight, 1 Rizzetta Compact (from 1986!), a few Dusty Strings extended range (D670s, D600) and a Masterworks Soprano. All are at least 16/15 instruments. I also have a variety of sitting and standing stands plus music stands. I provide extra "practice" instruments for the second house. TRAVEL INSURANCE: I highly recommend the purchase of travel insurance to protect your investment. Your deposit is not refundable. In the event that you need to cancel, I will refund a portion of the full fee only if I can fill your spot. I do not maintain a wait list because it is rarely practical to fill a spot close to the week. Some companies folks have used are Allianz, Travel Guard and World Nomads. EARLY ARRIVAL We recommend that folks come in "early" - meaning Saturday - if possible. It is an extra $60 for a single participant and $80 for a participant with a guest/spouse.
